So many people here keep on reminding me about disgusting Buffy comics. Some even write that they are canon, because Joss has his hand in them.
I used to read the comics, but the idiocy of them turned me completely against them. Everyone is so OOC there, it can't be canon. It's a fanfic authorized by Joss. Canon is forever only the television series. The film with Kristy Swanson and numerous books don't count as canon either. As I said, I (and many others) do not consider them canon, because the characters there do not behave the way Buffy & Co would behave after "Chosen". It's like they all had a lobotomy and went back to the level of season 2, completely ignoring the development of the later seasons. Secondly - space ships, alien bugs, centaurodawn? It's just SO not Buffyverse. It's not canon, because it does not feel like a continuation of the series. It's a fanfic by Joss. Some bizzarre alternative universe. I'd like to quote ~riggin:
"The comics are ridiculous to the point that I really believe Joss is mocking his fans."
I do not read comics (because for me it would be a waste of time), but I get updates and summaries from people who do. So I know what's going on there. The comics are filthy! *spits like Ilona from "The Girl In Question"* And we shall speak of them no more.

Nothing will beat the awesomeness of the TV series "Buffy" or well "Angel". But I see it ways comics allows the writers of the show that have continued to be an integral part, more creative room for stories that may have been financially impossible to achieve on the show and expand on the buffy universe in ways they havent been able to before.

For your comment about introducing spaceships and whatnot, they did introduce an alien demon once in Buffy S5, so i thought that was a nice call back.

Some of the actors from the show, like Amber Benson, Juliet Landau, Nicholas Brendon have huge influence in contributing to Buffy S8, S9 in the comics which I think is awesome whether they are canon or non canon, anything to do with Buffy, im itching to get my hands on and read! Always looking for new stories to read about one of my fave slayers (faith is my fave!!) :)

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but cant we all accept that we are all Buffy fans from the TV series or the continuation of the comics? (im not including the Buffy movie cuz THAT SUCKED! Acting, effects, dont get me started, it was just....shivers....Horrible!!) :)

sorry doll but i really like the Buffy comics as much as the series itself and the original movie...i have all the volumes of the graphic novels of season 8 of the BTVS comics...i not seen season 9 yet 'cause i don't think there is a volume of a graphic novel version of it yet...i think the artist of alot of the graphic novel volumes of season 8 was magnificent which her name is Jo Chen...how can you not like this artwork of Buffy: [link] ...it is amazing...and i think the likeness of all the characters for every panel of the comics is remarkably similar to the original actors of the series...if you talking about the comics by Dark Horse Comics company that is...i am talking about them...Amber Benson even had a graphic novel or 2 that are good reads...i am such a hardcore fan that anything that keeps Buffy alive is good stuff to me

As I said in the post, I strongly dislike comics because the plots are idiotic and the characters are OOC, they do not behave the way Buffy & Co would behave after "Chosen". It's like they all had a lobotomy and went back to the level of season 2, completely ignoring the development of the later seasons. They keep stepping on the same rake over and over again. They may have the same names as characters in BtVS, but they are *not* Buffy and Co.

Some covers are pretty and well done, but most of the pictures inside are moderately bad and the readers can not distinguish between the characters, they all look the same, only haircolours are a giveaway. And sometrimes they look absolutely nothing like BtVS characters, as in these exaplmes: [link]

As I said in another reply: You like comics? Great for you! But, please, pleeeeaaase, don't talk to me about them. I hate them so much!

IMHO they are really bad. They have the same in-charactness and quality as "Buffy" the motion picture with Kristy Swanson.

I've NEVER read the comics, but OMG the newest S9 are completely OOC beyond belief! To put it lightly, Buffy got blackout drunk and is now pregnant. No one knows who the father is.

That is NOT the heroine I grew up admiring! If I ever meet Joss, I think I'd bow at his feet for his marvelous creations, then sock him in the nose for what he's done to Buffy.

...And now she's not pregnant, but her mind has been put into a roboBuffy. It's insanity. Lucky you, missing out on the comics.
